Hi everyone – we hope that you are staying safe and well.
Great news. We now have approval to start some limited face to face outdoor Scouting activities and the leaders are busy planning a programme for the summer term – from Easter through to the summer holidays.
To kick things off, there’s a ‘virtual camp’ over the last weekend in March – more about that below.
We’re taking it slowly….
As we start to make plans to return to Scouts face-to-face over the coming months, we know that lots of young people will be coming back in a variety of different positions. The past year has been incredibly tough for everyone – especially young people – and we all want to make sure we’re doing all we can to make them feel safe and included.
So if you have any concerns or questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with your child’s section leader for a chat – Anne for Beavers, Leisha for Cubs, Paul for Scouts or Stuart for Explorers. Easiest way to get in touch is by email (just put their name before @grantonscouts.org.uk and your email will go to the right person – e.g. email@example.com)
Look out for more details over the Easter break.
…but first….The Virtual Really Big Camp – next weekend – 26th – 28th March
To build up the excitement of getting the adventure started again we hope that many of the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers (and leaders and mums & dads!) will register and take part in the Virtual Really Big Camp. It’s next weekend – Friday 26th to Sunday 28th March – and you can choose to camp – indoors or outside – for either one or two nights.
This is being organised by Craigalmond District (all Scout groups in north-west Edinburgh). There are more details – including a link to register – on the Craigalmond District Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/craigalmondscouts. Not on Facebook? You can go straight to the registration form here.
We hope that you and your children are as keen as we are to get back to proper Scouting.
In the meantime stay safe, have fun and remember that there are loads ideas of activities to do at home on our website at www.grantonscouts.org.uk.

By the way, for Beavers and Cubs – remember that the final Beaver and Cub Zoom meeting of the term (and hopefully final ever Zoom meeting ☺) is on Tuesday 23rd March at 6pm – theme is “Movies”. We will send out a separate E mail a few days before that date to Beaver and Cub parents.
