From Hamish Kaye – former ASL, VSL, GSL, Hut Warden
Helping run the troop was very hard work at times. Phone call to say hut was on fire going along to see it being put out and told the hut was not safe – very sad as many great dances were held in it to raise funds for the group.
Better times came as every one worked hard to build the new hut . During these times we had laughs and fun whitch is what scouting is about.
From Chas Macintosh
The old Scout Hut was burned down by arsen in September 1990. The Group fuond temporary accomodation in Granton Parish Church Halls.
The Group Exec took the decision to rebuild a custom – built Group HQ – which after long wrangles with the council over a renewed rental – was opened in October 1993. George Johnstone was Group Chairman, Chas Macintosh was GSL and Andy Dean was SL.
We’d like to capture as many past memories of the group as possible so please email your contributions to chas.macintosh@yahoo.com
